Shame they didn't put as much effort into adding to the squad in January as they are putting into thie new stadium. A sports village would be great for the city. would it have a swimming pool? However, why 55,000? Will we ever really need that many seats lying empty? It'll end up £700 for a season ticket and £1 a game for every seat unsold an hour before KO and we'll still only get 24,000 people. |

I really do hope the new stadium, if it happens, is a success for Blues. As a club we deserve something to shout about. However, why are they so intent on a sports village? To attract the funding I suppose. Good idea but is it really best for BCFC? |

The reason the council want it is as has been said, a bid for the commonwealth games and also for World and European Outdoor Athlectic championships since we know how well we can do with the indoor version of these events. Also at the moment the plans for an Olympic sized (50m) swimming pool are for one to be built at Arston Uni. I suppose you may get a smaller 25m local pool, but it would be amazing if we had two 50m pools. |

The only thing that worries me is the councils members personal involvement in the NEC (ie the shares that they all own). I hope they are not soft soaping everyone just to push there own personal interests forward. The comments about being to far away are a concern but we are having retractable stands so hopfully that will not be a issue. I also can't imagine us staying at a crowd of 18,000 in a new stadium especially as we hopefully will be playing in the prem. The gates should be at least into the 30,000+ bracket. If we still have 20,000 seats to fill then surely they will have to reduce the cost of season ticket as there will be no suply and demand issue. The board will surely take that into consideration. There prime objective will be to fill the stadium on a regular basis. Then they can start charging the going prem rate for tickets.Other wise people will just pick and choose there games and we would have very low season ticket sales. So we will at least get a few years at a discounted level. If it is built it can only be good for us as a business as well as a football club. Role on the new stadium i for one can't wait. Well done to the board if they manage to pull this off. :applause: :Blues: PS. I am so surprised by the amount of people asking questions about a project that has been in the public demain for so long. Were have you been? |
